How To Cancel a PayPal Subscription

How To Cancel a PayPal Subscription One of the ways to upgrade on JibberJobber is through PayPal you can do a onetime upgrade (1/3/6/12/24 month(s), etc.), or you can do a recurring subscription.   If you do a subscription and then want to downgrade later, the steps are easy, but we cant do it for you.   Even if you DELETE your JibberJobber account we cant cancel the PayPal subscription for you.   There are instructions in the FAQ, and on the My Account page (when you logged-in), but I wanted to put it here also.   These are instructions I just got from a user (since the instructions Paypal has in their email is not as detailed): Log into PayPal Click the History sub-tab under My Account Find the last subscription payment transaction in your history Click the Detail link for that transaction Click the S-number link at the top of detail page Click the Cancel Subscription button at the bottom of the page Click the Cancel Subscription button on the confirmation page Click Return to Log to confirm the cancellation transaction now appears Thanks Dieter, for putting these instructions together! Job Search Etiquette What Happens if I Dont Get the Job

Job Search Etiquette What Happens if I Dont Get the Job Dear Classy Career Girl,   If you receive an email stating that you DID NOTget the job, is it appropriate to respond to them asking what was the deciding factor, to please keep you in mind for future positions OR why  they chose another candidate? Sincerely, On the Hunt You Didnt Get the Job What is the Next Step? Dear On the Hunt, After you didnt get a job, lots of things cross your mind: Did I wear the wrong thing, say the wrong thing, not have the right experience? What Can You Learn? I take a different approach to this.   If I didnt get the job, I know there is a reason for it and I use it as a learning experience for next time. I would DEFINITELY thank them and let them know to keep you in mind for future positions. But, I would be careful when asking why you didnt get the position.   I would first think  back to  the interview and think about all the questions that they  asked you.  Were you able to show that  you had all the right experience and  that you fulfilled all of the requirements of the job? In many cases, you can figure out why you didnt get the job just by the questions that were asked. If for some reason you just cant put your finger on  why you didnt get  the job, I think it is OK to send a quick email. In the email, I would  say that you are looking for ways to build your resume to get a job just like this one and what are some things you could do in order to become more qualified for the job next time? [Related Post:  11 Ways to Stay Organized In Your Job Search] Other things to remember is that some companies will not provide you with an answer to this question for legal reasons.   Also, remember to do some research to see what the company is going through.   I once had a fabulous interview and I was sure I got the job.    When I never heard back I  did some research and found out  that the company was actually being acquired by another company.   If they would have hired me, I would have been fired the next day!  Know that there are many other reasons for not getting a job  so dont blame yourself! -CLASSY CAREER GIRL Do you have a question for Classy Career Girl? Lessons Learned From the Girl Who Never Backed Up Her Computer

Lessons Learned From the Girl Who Never Backed Up Her Computer For a long time, I thought computer backup was for tech geeks with lots of fancy code and precious data to protect. After all, my laptop is mainly a repository for vacation pics, favorite tunes, and a log of my copious online search history. Then it happened. I got the screen of death and my laptop was no more. I desperately reached out to every IT professional I had even the slightest relationship with in hopes they could perform a miracle and save me. They all told me the same thing, “You should ALWAYS back up your computer.” And now I’m telling you the same thing. To help you avoid the same tragic fate, here are the lessons I learned from not backing up my computer, plus some tips to help you overcome your backup phobia and get started saving your data right away. Memories Last Forever But Photos Don’t Computers replaced traditional photo albums. Every photo we take, whether it’s on a trip to Hawaii or a family reunion, ends up stored on our computer. When a computer crashes or the hard drive fails, photos are usually the most terrible loss that ensues. If you use your computer as your backup for photo storage, but don’t ever backup your computer, you may as well have deleted your precious pics as soon as you took them. You’d better hope your memory lasts because in most cases, there will be no way to restore all those snapshots if your computer goes kaput. There’s a Reason That Big Project Took Months to Prepare Even though you may mourn the loss of your photos first, losing valuable work is just as devastating. Most companies automatically backup all computers on their network, but if you’re doing extra work from home or if you’re self-employed, you need to handle that part yourself. Nothing’s worse than getting ready to put the finishing touches on a big presentation only to discover all your work is gone. (Yes, that also happened.) Starting from scratch with less than 24 hours to the big meeting is something you don’t ever want to experience. (Trust me.) It’s Nearly Impossible to Replace All Your Music It’s difficult to comprehend the black hole left behind when all your favorite albums vanish from your life. Not only is it expensive to replace them, but it’s really hard to remember all the music you stored on your computer. If you transferred all your CDs to your laptop, you’ll find rebuilding your collection to be a daunting task. Writing a New Resume Is No Fun You finally got your resume exactly how you want it and now your faulty computer swallowed it up along with everything else. If nothing else on this list convinces you to start backing up your computer, the prospect of having to cobble together a new resume should be the impetus you need. This is something we often don’t think about until we need it, but it’s a special kind of torture to have to create a brand new one because your computer died. Backing Up Your Computer Is Easier Than You Think The silver lining to a terrible computer annihilation is that you become highly motivated to figure out this whole backup thing. And it turns out that backing up your computer isn’t as complicated as you feared. There are several simple options to protect your photos, music, resume, and work projects. External Backup â€" Storing files on a device other than your computer is a smart, easy way to back up your information. You can use a common thumb drive or an external hard drive. A thumb drive is easy but has limited capacity, so if you have a large amount of data you want to keep safe, you might need multiple drives to do it. Thumb drives are also small, and therefore can be easily misplaced. An external hard drive can store more data and, because it doesn’t fit easily in your purse, is a lot more difficult to accidentally lose. Cloud Backup â€" Backing up your data online is a great option because it allows you to store (and access) data from multiple devices. It also keeps your information safe even if disaster strikes; a fire or flood won’t touch the Cloud, but they could destroy any physical backup device you store in your home. Concern about security and hackers is the only drawback to Cloud storage. However, there are ways to keep your data safe. Look for plans with double authentication protocols and be sure to make your passwords as difficult to hack as possible. Avoid the headaches and heartache that come with a devastating computer crash by making backup a regular part of your routine. And you don’t have to choose just one backup method. When it comes to keeping your data and information intact, the more methods you use the merrier. Find a reliable Cloud storage system and use an external hard drive â€" then you’re doubly protected in the event that something happens.

Colossal Lessons From Roman Relics

Colossal Lessons From Roman Relics We just got back from 13 days in Italy. Have you ever been? It’s been at least 20 years since we were last there and the amazing thing is it hasn’t changed much. In fact, Rome looked exactly the way it did the first time we went there in 1978. Living in North America we are so used to new developments. Tearing down “old” buildings to put up something new. New housing developments popping up where there used to be farm fields. In many parts of the US, “heritage” buildings are barely 100 years old. Italy … not so much.   Where we were staying in Tuscany, you aren’t allowed to build new foundations. So, if you want to build a house, you have to find the foundation of a previous dwelling and then you can build on that spot. And, old structures. Let’s look at probably the most impressive building in Rome, The Colosseum. About six months ago they started guided tours down into the bowels of the structure.   We walked on the floor where 2000 years ago thousands of gladiators and prisoners were held, waiting to go into the arena. We stood on the very top where the plebian Roman women sat to watch the games. It’s so high up that the people and animals in the arena looked like miniatures. These were truly the ‘nosebleed’ seats. We saw the underground water system that was used to flood the arena for reenactments of famous ship battles. Here are some of the things we learned on the tour. The Colosseum was originally called the Flavian Amphitheater after the founder of the Flavian dynasty, Emperor Vespasian. The name Colosseum is derived from the Latin word colosseus meaning colossal. This was in reference to the gigantic 120 foot bronze statue of the Emperor Nero which had been previously erected near the site of the Colosseum. This elliptical building is 1,788 ft. in circumference, 187 ft. high, 615 ft. long and 510 ft. wide. It has 80 entrances and can accommodate between 50,000 and 75,000 spectators. Construction was started in AD 72 and was completed a mere 8 years later in AD 80. Above the ground are four stories, the upper story contained seating for women. The lowest story, which, like our stadiums were the best seats, was preserved for prominent citizens. Below ground were rooms with mechanical devices and cages containing wild animals. The cages could be hoisted, enabling the animals to appear in the middle of the arena. The Colosseum was the first covered stadium. It was covered with an enormous awning known as the velarium. This protected the spectators from the sun. It was attached to large poles on top of the Colosseum and anchored to the ground by large ropes. A team of some 1,000 men was used to install the awning. There is much to be learned from old cultures and old things and there are a huge number of interesting facts about the Colosseum (click here if you’re interested) but some thoughts that came to us as we toured this amazing structure and other parts of the city were: If the Romans could build the Colosseum in a mere 8 years, what could we achieve if we really focused? Admittedly the labor was provided by slaves but the project management, the infrastructure, the innovative technology and craftsmanship needed to raise this structure are a testament to focus and determination. The foundations and innovations of ancient societies include many things that we use and practice today. Democracy, architecture, philosophy, building and construction innovations, art, literature, city planning, language, medicine, military configurations, and astronomy are just a few of the areas that we take for granted today that were directly influenced by the Greek and Roman worlds. There are striking similarities between Americas current situation and the factors that brought down Rome; history’s only other absolute superpower. In Rome, as in America today, we are stuck in an expensive and unpopular war in the Middle East that we cannot win on our terms. We have a debt and mortgage crisis as bad as what Rome had and any solution to this problem is hindered by bitter partisan politics.   In Rome, the two political parties were so bitterly hateful of one another that they would rather see the freedom of Rome perish than one or other of the parties triumph. Each of us have within ourselves the ability and opportunity to focus our attention towards a positive and uplifting future; both for ourselves and our families and our nations … let’s do that!

Writing Your Resume in College

Writing Your Resume in CollegeWriting your resume in college can be a daunting task. While some days it seems like there is not enough time to put it together, others seem to have more time than one can handle. For the latter group, what you need is a list of questions to ask yourself before you start. One of the first things you need to do is make sure that you hire a professional resume writer. You will definitely need someone to handle the writing for you, and this is not something that you can do on your own. As such, you need to make sure that you trust the writer that you choose to work with. A resume writer who truly knows how to write resumes should have an impressive portfolio to back up their work.Next, you will want to make sure that you do not include any special knowledge on your resume in order to make a great resume. This is due to how many times you will hear the saying 'pre-employment screening'pre-employment interview.' These screening processes are used when you are looking for jobs to apply for. They simply require you to be screened for specific skills and abilities prior to them making any hiring decisions. This will make your resume look much better and your chances of getting the job you are looking for much higher. You will also want to make sure that your resume is completely professional and not formatted any differently than any other resumes you have seen. This will make you appear much more professional, which is usually a great thing. A professional will ensure that your resume looks professional while still being organized.Third, you will want to make sure that you have written a cover letter. With a cover letter, you will be able to introduce yourself to a prospective employer and provide them with a brief description of yourself. While this does not necessarily mean that you need to write a one page resume and cover letter, it will definitely be worth it if you do. That will give you a chance to make sure that your resume is a go od fit for the position you are applying for.The final step to writing your resume in college is to go online and look for free resources to help you. You will find that these resources will often have templates to use for your resume. The key here is to be sure that you take advantage of every single resource available. The job search can be tough, but it can also be very rewarding. What is important to remember is that you will get out of it what you put into it. If you do not learn anything new, then that means you did not put any effort into your job search.Remember that getting out of college and working is just as difficult as getting out of high school and going to work. Keep this in mind and you will be better off for it.
